Nearly half of all students in Marysville are on free and reduced lunch. This means many of our families have a difficult time getting students the supplies they need for a successful school year. The Salvation Army, City of Marysville and many other are helping us “Stuff the Bus” in support of those who need it the most. Join us! Learn more: www.bit.ly/STB2018Locations

Totem Middle School teacher Kolleen Lothian is a great example of the wonderful, innovative and caring staff members we have in #MSD25! We're also impressed with her passionate and thoughtful students. The future is bright for Marysville and Tulalip. “I wanted to find a way to engage my students in reading and writing,” she said. “Immediately my students latched onto it. I saw the light bulbs go off. I was blown away about how much these kids who have so little comparatively were so willing to be generous. A lot wanted to solve problems close to home.” https://goo.gl/nBqqWL

Kolleen Lothian, 31, a seventh-grade teacher at Totem Middle School, tasked her students with a project assignment called Genius Hour where they developed a research and action project to raise money for causes. Students including Mckinley Galde, Sydney Sumsion and Molly Wright collectively raised $3,300. (Andy Bronson / The Herald)
