The first day of the 2025-2026 school year for our 1st through 9th graders (plus Legacy High School) is in the books. Thanks to all who made it a great first day. We'll see the rest of our high school students tomorrow!
Upon receiving the report, the school immediately went into lockdown. MPD quickly verified the safety of our campus and lifted the lockdown at 9:38am.
All students and staff are safe and school is now resuming as normal.
We want to thank our staff who followed our outlined safety procedures and MPD for their collaboration. Safety is our highest priority.
ONE MORE DAY: Our bus drivers are hitting the road this morning to learn their routes ahead of the first day of school TOMORROW! In that spirit, here are some pretty simple but important reminders:
1: When you're driving on a two-lane road or traveling the same direction as a bus on a multi-lane street, it is illegal and SUPER DANGEROUS to pass a bus that is stopped with red flashing lights. We hope keeping kids safe is incentive enough, but our buses are also equipped with stop arm cameras that send information directly to the Marysville Police Department so violators will face hefty fines.
2: We know you have places to be, but please slow down in school zones, especially during school hours and at the start and end of the school day.

Back to school may be right around the corner, but this week, we’re celebrating our high school students who put in the time and effort this summer to earn the class credits they need to graduate.
By the numbers: more than 300 students in 9th through 12th grades recovered a total of 614 classes. And on Thursday, we’ll celebrate the accomplishments of our seniors during summer commencement at Marysville Pilchuck High School’s auditorium. The event is open to all – please join us in congratulating our graduates!
The new Liberty Elementary campus has been getting a makeover all summer long – and we're not done yet!
This week, crews will begin offloading equipment and setting posts and decks for the new playground. That’s because next week, a team of Liberty staff and parent volunteers will support the pros from NW Playground as they complete the final installation of the structure after months of coordination and planning.
Our facilities team has also been hard at work inside the building, from the annual summer deep-cleaning and polishing of the gym floor to lowering the toilet seats for elementary-sized students, painting, and reconfiguring classroom walls.
School board president Kristen Michal and vice president Eliza Davis recently joined Superintendent Rumbaugh for a visit to check out the progress and say hi to staff who have been hard at work unpacking boxes and adding personal touches to each corner of their new classrooms. (And wait until you see the library!)
We can’t wait to welcome students and families to the new Liberty Campus later this month!

September 3 for Kindergarten (Kindergarten Family Engagement days are Aug. 28, 29, and Sept. 2)
September 15 for Developmental Preschool and ECEAP School (Full) Day
September 22 for ECEAP Part Day
