The Marysville School District Board of Directors took action at their regular session board meeting on January 18, 2023, to fill the vacant District Director Area 5 seat.
Msvl. WA - After a publicly advertised process, the Board of Directors accepted applications to fill the District Director 5 open seat through November 2023. Seven applications were received. Following a screening and scoring process, the Board narrowed the applicants down to three finalists. On January 11, 2023, in a special session meeting the Board interviewed the three finalists. Following the interviews, the board deliberated in an executive session to discuss the candidates and their qualifications.
At the January 18, 2023, regular session board meeting, Board President Paul Galovin publicly announced the appointment of Kristen Michal to fill the seat through November 2023. Following a unanimous vote for the appointment, Ms. Michal will participate in her first official board meeting on February 6, 2023. President Galovin stated there will be a special meeting to administer the Oath of Office later this month.
President Galovin shared, “We were very fortunate to have several candidates apply for the open seat. Each candidate was highly qualified, and we appreciate that they expressed an interest to serve their community.” “We are excited about Ms. Michal joining us on the school board,” he added.
