BOUNDARY CHANGE PROCESS
UPDATE - February 2, 2021
The Marysville School District Enrollment and Demographics Committee met multiple times during the 2019 - 2020 school year to identify feeder patterns for elementary, middle, and high schools and ultimately make a recommendation to the Board of Directors to establish high school attendance boundaries.
In February 2020, the committee made a recommendation to the Board of Directors. The Board met with the committee in March 2020 and took action to table the boundary change process until December 2020. The Board of Directors desired to have more community feedback to make a more informed decision.
In preparation for the December 2020 work, the Board of Directors and the District’s Leadership Team met with a consultant, Spencer Welch, during the month of October to review the boundary process. On November 7, the Board met in a retreat session with the consultant and established “A” and “B” scenarios to take forward to families, staff, and community stakeholders for feedback during the month of February 2021.
To gather feedback on the two options, four town hall sessions have been scheduled in English and Spanish:

Following the community feedback sessions, the information received will be processed and a final recommendation will be brought forward to the Board of Directors in March 2021 which will be followed by an implementation and communication plan.

UPDATE - February 2020
BOARD OF DIRECTORS TABLE BOUNDARY CHANGE DECISION
At their regular session board meeting this evening, Monday, March 2, the Board of Directors took action to table the decision on the boundary change process recommended by the Enrollment and Demographics Committee until December 2020.
Board president Vanessa Edwards thanked the committee for their work.
For the coming 2020 - 2021 school year, this means that students at the high school level will continue with a school choice process when entering into 9th grade and students will continue to be shuttled by district buses to their school.
More to come in the future around the next steps and opportunities for student, parent, guardian, and community involvement.
In August of 2018, the Marysville School District Board of Directors made a decision to move to feeder pattern boundaries for the two comprehensive high schools; Marysville Getchell High School and Marysville Pilchuck High School. A committee was formed by the board with parents, community members, staff, and students to study enrollment and boundaries. The committee was charged by the Board of Directors with creating feeder boundaries, kindergarten through twelfth grade, for the two comprehensive high schools; Marysville Getchell and Marysville Pilchuck. The committee began meeting in March of 2019, and on December 9, 2019, the committee's recommendation was presented to the Board of Directors.
