MPHS Play

Marysville-Pilchuck Drama Club presents the Disney musical "Newsies" in the M-PHS auditorium on April 28th, 29th, 30th and May 5th, 6th and 7th at 7:00 pm. 

Tickets, only sold at the door, are $10 for adults and $8 for students with ASB, Sr Citizens and others.

Disney's "Newsies" is a musical based on the 1992 Disney musical film of the same name. The movie and the musical are inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the musical opening up on Broadway where it played for over 1,000 performances. The show's music is by Alan Menkin, lyrics are by Jack Feldman and the book was written by Harvey Fierstein based on the film's screenplay by Bob Trudiker and Noni White. Disney's "Newsies" is presented with permission from MTIShows.

The musical features a combination of talented students from M-PHS, M-GHS and even a student from Cedarcrest. M-P's Nolan Crumrine and M-G's Jack Lawler will be rotating in the roles of Jack Kelly and Crutchie. Other students in the production include Christopher Ross, Kai Ostbus, Annie Brediger, Mathias Quinn, Denny Northrop, Alex Sendek, Lily Siron, Anna Blanchard, Angelina Saechao, Isabeau Prettyman, Jaethyn Hipps, McKenna Kinsfather, Eiza Choate, Sharifa Saladain, Rethabile Nkaiseng, Veronika Gardulski, Arianna Herrnandez, Genevieve Lilly, Ariah Stapp, Brittany Ko, Rylee Grunstad and Anden Pattison.

The choreography was created by Sadie and Trisha Ross, Vocal Direction by Totem Middle School teacher Joshua Neisinger, Orchestra conducted by M-P Band teacher Emily Hurd and Direction is by M-P Drama teacher Roy Klementsen with student assistant directors Jack Lawler and Lily Siron.
