In-District Transfer Process for the 2024 - 2025 School Year

Transfer Request Form: Requests should be submitted online. Submitting an online transfer is not a guarantee of placement. Notification will be made once the request has been reviewed. If you do not have access to complete the form online, please come to the Educational Service Center located at 4220 80th Street NE, Marysville, WA 98270 for assistance, or email transfers@msd25.org or call (360) 965-0264.

If approved for an In-District Transfer Request or Choice Transfer Request (information below), parents must provide transportation for their child(ren) to and from school.

While it is always recommended to enroll your child in your resident area (neighborhood/boundary) school, we do understand that, at times, circumstances exist that create the need to enroll in a school outside of your resident area school.

Following this process is a request for a change in your student's school placement. Transfers are primarily based on space availability. The request is not a guarantee of placement.

This process is for parents or guardians to request a transfer for their child to attend a school other than their designated neighborhood/boundary school or to return to their neighborhood/boundary school. This process is also used for requests to attend one of the district programs, such as the Marysville Cooperative Education Program (Co-Op), 10th Street Middle School, Legacy High School, Tulalip Heritage High School, or the School to Home Partnership Program.

  • The Annual In-District Transfer 'Open Window' for the 2024 - 2025 school year is February 1, 2024, through February 29, 2024, for grades 1 - 12. The window for incoming Kindergarten students is March 1, 2024, through June 1, 2024.

  • For the 2024 - 2025 school year, the following schools are currently open for transfer requests: Tulalip Heritage, Legacy High School, Marysville Pilchuck High School, 10th Street Middle School, Totem Middle School, Marysville Middle School, Open Doors at Totem, EvCC, and the Marysville Cooperative Education Program at Marshall Elementary School.

  • Transfer requests received by the Priority deadline of February 29th by 11:59 PM for grades 1-12 will be reviewed and responded to by the close of business on March 15.

  • Transfer requests received by the deadline of June 1 by 11:59 PM for Kindergarten will be reviewed and responded to by the close of business on April 19 and again on June 14.

  • Applying after the deadlines: Parents/guardians (for grades 1-12 only) submitting requests for transfers after February 29, but

before June 1, will receive notification no later than June 30.

Families who reside in the Marysville School District boundary area and choose to enroll their child(ren) in one of the district’s option programs or in a school other than their boundary area school only need to complete one In-District Transfer Request. Once an In-District transfer has been approved, parents do not need to re-apply for transfer to that school in subsequent years.

A Choice Transfer request is made when a student wants to attend a school in a school district outside of the school district where the student lives. This form must be completed each school year.
