Juneteenth

Observing and Honoring Juneteenth - June 19, 2021
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Cel-Liberation Day, is an American holiday celebrated annually on June 19. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas, that all previously enslaved people were free.

A community event to kick-off Juneteenth is scheduled for Saturday, June 12, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Comeford Park in Marysville. The celebration is hosted by two local groups; Change the Narrative and Artists in Activism. Click HERE to view the groups' event flyer.

The Marysville School District will have a table at the celebration and staff will be on hand to listen, learn, and answer questions. Stop by and say hello!

We hope to see you there!
