MPHS Drama Club

M-PHS Drama Club will be presenting their Fall Musical in a wildly different format than they originally imagined. What would have been their “spring” musical, with work on the musical that began one year ago with preplanning and auditions and after all of the lines were memorized, choreography and music rehearsals completed, the sets completely built, costumes created and props purchased, everything was shut down last March. With hopes of still being able to present the show, cast members kept the show fresh by rehearsing via Zoom with the hope that when schools reopened, they would be able to present their show to an audience.

Fast forward to this school year.  The main cast members of the musical had graduated and moved all over the country. The school building was still closed and it looked like our musical would not happen. The club had spent much of their budget and they knew that if they couldn’t present this show in some way that there may not be future shows. The Drama Club brainstormed and held auditions to fill the holes in the cast. Knowing that they would not be able to do a normal production, the plan turned to filming the show. Two attempts were made to film, but neither one worked out very well. Finally, the club set aside time to just meet on Zoom and decided to present the show as a “Zoomsical.”

The premier of the drama club’s first Zoomsical will happen at 7:00 pm on December 18 via Zoom. Tickets to the production are available on showtix4u.

The stream will cost $7 per device plus Showtix4u service fees.  This is a one-time only event.  Participants can watch the production or can consider buying a ticket as a donation or you can donate to the Drama Club at https://wa-marysville.intouchreceipting.com/. Interested parties would need to create a guest account. Parents or guardians, would log in with their Skyward credentials, then choose “Drama>Drama Donations.” The production is created by a combination of Marysville Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell High School students, directed and edited by MPHS Drama Teacher/Director Roy Klementsen.

“Disney’s Freaky Friday” is based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films. This Disney Theatrical Production features a book by Bridget Carpenter and music and lyrics by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. The show is being streamed with permission from Musical Theatre International.
