Espanõl haga clic AQUÌ

The implementation of the District’s remote teaching and at-home learning will begin on Monday, April 13.  What students need from schools during this time will vary and we recognize that many will need additional supports and accommodations. What schools and families will need during this time will also vary-flexibility and communication is key.

School staff will collaborate and plan to meet student learning needs and support student well-being and will carry out the following in support of distance learning (online) with students:

Preschool through Grade 5
PreK-5 Preschool and Elementary Teachers will:

Post assignments weekly. Assignments will be for the following areas:

  • ELA (reading/writing)

  • Math

  • Science

  • Social-Emotional

  • Specialists (PE, library, art, Code, etc.) will develop one lesson each week for each grade level.

The total time students spend on instructional activities should not exceed 2.5 hours (150 minutes) per day. We do not want to overwhelm students or families.

Grades 6 - 12
Secondary Teachers will:

  • Post one assignment (not to exceed 90 minutes) per week to Google Classroom, Canvas or their class web page.

  • Engage with students using the online learning and communication tools provided.

Examples of teacher-directed engagement  may include:

  • Determining how to deliver flexible instruction in content areas depending on tools and resources accessible to each student. Delivery of instruction may include, phone contact, email, technology-based virtual instruction, or a combination to meet diverse student needs.

  • Teachers will provide instruction as needed (Zoom, Google Hangouts, Video, YouTube, etc.).

  • Teachers will have the option to plan and deliver content in multiple ways so all students can access learning.

  • Teachers should modify and adjust assignments based on student needs (504s, IEPs, and student language proficiency).

  • Teachers will provide feedback on assigned work.

  • Teachers will continue to use email, communication apps, and/or their websites to communicate with parents about the learning activities, expectations, and assignments.

  • Special Education and English Language Learner (ELL) teachers will communicate their expectations to their students/families and collaborate with classroom teachers.

We are continuing to learn more about credits, grading, and graduation for high school seniors and will share information as it becomes available, and we have had an opportunity to have a solid plan in place. The information shared from the State is changing nearly daily. We want to continue to explore all options and make fully informed decisions for our students.

Please take good care and practice social distancing - “Stay Home - Stay Healthy”.
