FOOTBALL

Dylan Carson and Jordan Justice are turning into quite the one-two punch for Marysville-Pilchuck.

Carson ran for 139 yards and three TDs, and Justice added 109 yards to lead M-P to a 34-7 rout over Squalicum Friday.

Carson scored on runs of 28 and 3 yards to five M-P a 14-0 halftime lead.

Dillon Kuk scored on an 18-yard pass from QB Jake Elwood, and then Elwood scored on a 2-yard run to make it 28-0 after three periods.

Carson added a 19-yard TD run in the fourth.

M-P, which is 3-0, was led in receiving by Kuk, who grabbed five for 88 yards.

The Tomahawk defense was dominant, only giving up a score in the last 11 seconds.

Meanwhile, Marysville Getchell lost to Ferndale 41-14.

SOCCER 

Jadin Thompson-Sheldon scored a goal, Kirsten Crane had a goal and an assist and Alana Gomez added an assist in the Charger win. Also, MG beat Oak Harbor 3-1 Saturday, after beating Lynnwood 3-0 last Thursday.

Along with beating Meadowdale, M-P beat Mountlake Terrace 1-0 last Thursday.


VOLLEYBALL

M-P won a thriller over Meadowdale Monday 3-2. The Tommies lost the first game badly 10-25, but gutted out an impressive 26-24 victory in the second set. They split the next to game, winning 25-18 then falling 20-25. In the deciding fifth set, they won 15-8. Caylee Carter led the way with 14 kills and 3 blocks. Ayana Sabbas had an impressive all-around game with 9 kills, 18 assists and 4 service aces. Taylor Bichel added 3 kills, 15 assists and 2 aces. Jenna Olson led the defense with 32 digs. Last week, M-P beat Mountlake Terrace 3-2.

MG lost a tough one to Edmonds-Woodway Monday 16-25, 25-20, 17-25 and 24-26. Kerragyn Heacock had 6 kills, 5 aces and 10 digs, Whitney Harwood 6 kills and 8 digs, Peyton Schmidt 3 aces and 16 digs and Courtney Taylor 5 kills.

MG lost another heartbreaker last week, this one to Lynnwood in five sets: 25-18, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21 and 15-9. Kate Roberts had 10 kills, 8 digs and 4 blocks. Harwood had 9 kills and 25 digs. Alexus Atkins contributed 8 kills and a block. Kelsey Kolling added 7 kills and 4 digs. Hannah Holscher had 23 assists and 16 digs and Schmidt 27 digs and 3 aces.


SWIMMING

In at meet at Forest Park pool in Everett Tuesday, Marysville’s combined MG and M-P swim team only came up with one victory. Cassidy O’Neal of M-P won the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 58.67 seconds.


BOYS TENNIS

M-P blanked MG Monday 7-0 in a Wesco 3A North match. In singles, Parker Devereux defeated Liam Perkins 6-1, 6-1; Carson Asper won an exciting match over Mason Devereux 4-6, 6-4, 10-6; Trae Tingelstad beat Rylee Worth 6-2, 6-2; and Davis Magee defeated Kiel Selapack 6-2, 6-3. In doubles, Aaron Kalab-Treven Southard easily beat Luke Olason-Mikah Marshall 6-1, 6-2; Dawson Coe-Jake Sulya beat Ryder Hurley-Keegan Brennan 6-0, 6-3; and Alex Nyblod-Jaxon Petermeyer got by Kane Selapack-Jaden Lash 7-5, 6-1.

M-P beat Everett Friday 6-1. Devereux won 6-1, 6-2. Asper and Tingelstad both came from behind to win: 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 and 1-6, 6-4, 10-7. Magee made it a sweep in singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. In doubles, Kalab-Southard won 6-0, 6-3; and Coe-Sulya won 6-1, 6-4. The Tommies also beat Oak Harbor 4-3 last Thursday.

Meanwhile, MG lost to Snohomish 7-0 last Thursday.


CROSS COUNTRY 

For MG, Jasmine Nguyen was the top local finisher in the girls varsity Division 1 race at the Nike Portland Invite placing ninth in 19 minutes, 12.2 seconds Saturday.

M-P’s girls were fourth in the five-team King’s Cross Invitational Saturday. Alexia Sandoval was ninth in 21 minutes, 48.43 seconds. Julia Davis was 19th, freshman Rachel Turral 20th, Xochitl Hernandez 26th and Corianne Cross 37th.
