Principal Sheward

Dear Marshall/MCEP Families,

My name is Kelly Sheward and I am thrilled to begin my 8th year as Principal at Marshall, my 18th year in Marysville and my 28th year in education. I am looking forward to continuing my relationship with each of you and your children.

Our mission at Marshall/MCEP is for students, staff, and parents to work cooperatively providing a safe, positive learning environment that encourages each child and adult to reach their maximum potential, value differences in themselves and others, and experience the joy of learning.

My vision as the principal of Marshall/MCEP is to continue to build a school environment where students feel safe, comfortable, challenged and engaged in class. A school where students and staff celebrate values and differences in each other and teachers feel supported in their teaching and inspired to try new things. A school where instruction will be data-driven and collaboration will be purposeful. A school where our parents will be involved in school activities and classrooms, and teachers and parents will work collaboratively to support their students. My belief has always been that excellence is never an accident, and we can only get there if we work as a team. As part of this process, I have always maintained an open door policy and, even though I will not always be able to fix every problem or make every person happy, I will always take the time to listen and help problem-solve.

Lastly, please know that while I take my role as principal very seriously, I also believe that school should be fun! I know that the best schools are those where every single person feels valued, safe, and welcomed. It is my priority to ensure that everyone who walks through the doors feels like part of the Marshall/MCEP Family. When we take the time to strategically plan, forge positive relationships, celebrate our achievements, and build on past successes, we can create a learning environment where everyone thrives. After all, we are the “Happiest Place on Earth”! Let’s make it a great year!

Kelly Sheward
