FR: Jason Thompson, Superintendent

During the month of January planning and discussions have been ongoing as we prepare to bring students in grades kindergarten and first grade back to school in a hybrid model. Preschool students started back in a hybrid model this past week. The Early Learning Center worked directly with families on student schedules and processes.

Once again, the health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. We continue to follow the guidance from the Snohomish Health District and follow all health and safety protocols.

Last night at the Board of Directors meeting, the Board heard a report on the Hybrid Learning Plan and took action to initiate the hybrid model beginning with our youngest learners. Tentatively, and in partnership with our local labor groups, our district is planning to bring our kindergarten and first grade students back to in-person learning on Monday, February 8, 2021.  For more information on this Step and any additional steps, please refer to the district’s Reconnect Plan.

Between now and February 8, elementary schools are making plans to welcome students back. This includes creating schedules, balancing classes, and setting up transportation. Schools will be in direct contact with families regarding class placement early next week. Those who require transportation will be notified during the week of February 1.

The hybrid model includes students attending half-days Monday through Thursday (AM & PM groups) with Friday’s designated for remote learning for assignments or projects.

For students staying in Continuous Learning 2.0 (remote learning), students will keep their same at-home learning schedule, however, they may have a different teacher. It is also possible that your child’s teacher may change for hybrid as schools balance classes.
